In 2012, doctors had told Samuel Lane Jr., 57, that he had three months to live. He had multiple heart failures and diabetes, which led to having both legs amputated. Soon after the news broke of Samuel’s grim future, The Victoria Advocate wrote a piece about Samuel’s possible last christmas with his family. The article of Samuel soon spread like wild fire across the community. The family received an incredible amount of support and donations from the community, and the family was able to pay off several months of rent and medical bills, Samuel Lane Jr.’s future funeral costs, and the kids christmas gifts.
A year has past since that last Christmas, and Samuel Lane Jr. is still continuing his battle for his children and family. This is was a follow up piece that I shot. It’s a small glimpse into Samuel’s everyday struggle and his family’s endeavor to hold onto their faith.
